“Two Preludes” Op. 29 –
As an Impressionistic painter who gazes at the landscape, catches the momentary suggestions and paints them on canvas, the same happened to me while I was watching the scenery before my house. The inspiration was so abrupt that I had to take the first sheet at hand to write music down. I had two opposing visions of the same landscape: the first was a gloomier one, transcribed in an intimate and sad melody; the second one was a sunnier, happier vision, expressed in a major chord, with a joyful and passionate mood.
